Holy week here in the Philippines is normally celebrated by going to the beach, seeing your loved ones in the province, flying out of the country or just staying at home and resting. I for the record, don't celebrate Holy Week because I simply have work. So no out-of-towns for me. Just me and some rock and roll music.
During my early teens, I discovered the world of rock and roll because of my dad who was an avid Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. I didn’t like it at first because I thought that they were too old for me and I can’t really relate to their lyrics. Good thing that my dad was also a huge fan of The Eagles because I totally loved them and grew up listening to most of their songs. Until now, my heart races when I hear Witchy Woman on the radio. But don’t get me wrong, I didn’t stop with just my father’s collection of music. I also listened to Alanis Morissette, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Greenday, Smashing Pumpkins, No Doubt, Goo Goo Dolls, Dave Matthews etc. They are collectively known as the era of alternative rock and grunge music during the 90's.
Being a fan of these bands, I always make it a point to buy their tapes and CD’s to show my support and just be satisfied in watching them in the TV unless they come here for a concert which is very unlikely to happen (most of the time). Buying their apparel and DVD’s online is not an option since shipping will cost me more than the merchandise itself. Good thing that there is a company here in Manila called Top40 that sells t-shirts with the band’s logo or album cover. I am a t-shirt – jeans – sneakers – kind of girl and I’m always clad in these band shirts whenever I go to school, the mall or even when going to the church. Until now that I’m working I don’t wear business attires at work because I’m not comfortable wearing slacks and blouses and heels. Anyway, now that we are talking about t-shirts, I’ve been having a recent love affair with vintage shirts and anything old. I don't know why but vintage looks "in" right now. From iPhone applications like Instagram, LomoLomo so you can take pictures with different filters to make it look old, vintage - themed weddings and the like. Their classic and timeless appeal always seals the deal. So since Foo Fighters recently launched their new album, I visited their online shop and saw this vintage looking shirt.
I wanted to buy it but it was already out of stock. I know there are a lot of shops that can custom print it for me but nothing beats the original. I guess I just have to wait for them to replenish their stocks and if I'll be lucky, to have them shipped for free courtesy of one of my friends who lives in New Jersey. Custom t-shirt shops and websites are spreading like wildfire nowadays because of the vast selection of designs you can choose from. A lot of couples like to wear what you call "love shirts" or "couple shirts". Those are shirts with customized messages or art work. One example is this:

They usually wear it for pre-nuptial pictures for their wedding. Others just like to wear it at the mall to maybe show their affection to the public. If you have your own design, just bring it there and they'll print it on your t-shirt for you. It can also be great gifts for loved ones too!
So there goes my thoughts for Holy Week. Time for some Metallica lovin' now. :)
