This is just a photo dump of what happened the following day. I wasn't able to sleep soundly because we didn't have a sleeping bag and the sand was hard against my back even with a layer of blanket. Before breakfast, (which I don't have a photo of) we climbed the hill on the east part of the island. Our guide said that the locals there plow the upper part of the hill so they can plant root crops. It was just a 5 - minute climb in a very easy trail. And here's the view from the top and then some:
The day went on as usual. Sleeping, eating, drinking and swimming. Bring a good book if you may, for the lack of shade and the heat of the sun might drive you nuts on thinking about what to do. There are a few spots for shade though but it is back - breaking. In the afternoon we climbed the hill on the west side of the beach but failed because it was too grassy and we won't be able to see anything so we didn't pushed through. It was a good cardio workout nonetheless.

For your convenience, here are the things that you need to bring when you go to Calaguas (specially on DIY trips). Not all are required but may come in handy.
- beach and resort wear
- insect repellant and or soap with citronella to ward off mosquitoes (this came in handy)
- sunscreen, sunblock, sun tan lotion
- flashlights (no electricity at all, although our guide has his own generator so we had music and lights at night)
- first aid kit / medicines
- camera with enough battery and memory cards
- cellphone (signal can still be patchy at times for Smart, for Globe and Sun - don't even try)
- a waterproof pouch or bag to store your valuables in
- moist towelettes / baby wipes
- tissue paper
- large garbage bag to protect your gear while on the boat and for your personal waste (yes, you bring back your garbage to the mainland)
- waterproof jacket or raincoat
- snorkeling gadgets
- tents
- sleeping bag
- personal toiletries (pffft, you know the drill)
Let me know if you get to Calaguas, I'll be more than happy to know your experience!
