Kid of the Trip: Ronald

quick pic before Ronald's father left
After finding Jerry, we started walking again and luckily, we saw a father and son tandem prepping balloons near the entrance of the mall's parking lot  I awkwardly approached them, introduced myself and extended a handshake while explaining my cause. Too bad the father was in a hurry so he just left me and his son, Ronald because he needed to go to his regular spot to attract customers. Ronald doesn't want to be left alone but his dad assured him that he'll come back for him. I smiled and said that I'm a friend and I brought gifts (he might have thought that I was a kidnapper because of my head wear haha! Lesson learned).

"ah..ehh..hi!"
To catch Ronald's heart, I asked him if he likes to watch cartoons or anime series. I told him that I am addicted to One Piece and even tried to demo one of the character's power. He smiled and said that he loves to watch Dragon Ball Z and his favorite character is Son Gokou. Like Jerry, Ronald was very timid and his answers were just plain yes and no. He is 8 years old and doesn't go to school to help his dad sell balloons. He has one sister who currently lives with his grandmother in another town and it's been a while since he last saw her.

I sensed that Ronald is getting a little irritated because of my questions so I just gave him the items and prepared to say goodbye. I just added that the coloring book that we got for him has a lot of robot drawings. "Di ako mahilig mag-color eh" (I don't like coloring much) he muttered. I was a little disappointed about it but just accepted the fact maybe he already outgrew it. I told him to just give the envelope to his sister as a christmas gift and I tried my luck for the last time and asked him if we can have a picture together. He obliged with sarcasm and we parted ways.

kids are kids!
Maybe next time, I will dress like a fairy god mother so kids won't get scared or intimidated by my kidnapper-like apperance. Chos!

Thank you again to Reuel and Jepay Delez for the school supplies they provided. :)

Hasta luego!
