Two days ago, the boss and I went to Route 196 for our monthly music dose and date. Our interpretation for a "romantic date" is beer + good music + good friends and not quiet dinner + coffee + movie. Yes, because we are not boring like that and yes I know you might be asking why we call it a date if its with good friends. Its because: we live together and mostly watch movies/TV series at home, cook and eat together, go to work and come home together, workout together and clean the house together. Now you know.
Moving on, we arrived at around 10:30pm and the first band just started to play. We don't go out as much except for EB's organized by me and Philmusic friends so I don't get to know a lot of bands and it was my first time to see The Lowtechs, Ibarra, The Purplechickens, Boy Elroy and Ephesus play. Route 196 is a cozy and small bar located at 196 Katipunan Avenue Blueridge Village , Quezon City. A lot of skateboards and tracks decorated the walls along with some lomo pictures of waves, beaches and surfers. The bands were great specially The Purplechickens who have this certain "patriotism flavor" in their songs. The last band who played was Stereodeal composed of very good friends of mine and this is the first time I actually attended a gig of theirs since I only get to see them during our EB which is inactive as of now.
The band is composed of 4 members namely: Adrian on vocals and lead guitars, Dax on bass and back - up vocals, Paul on lead guitars and my bro Kiko on drums. I've known them through Sis Ab and Bro Kiko who are my co-Philmusic forumites. They are actually one of my favorite couples. :) We've been friends way back 2007 during our monthly EB's at the now closed Purple Haze Bar. That night, Dax wasn't able to play because of his back problem so Red, who's also a bassist from Kiko's other band proxied for him. Stereodeal played four songs : Relentless, Hypertime, The Spin and their newest song, New Jersey. You can check out their still-under construction-site : Stereodeal.
Here are some of the pictures during their set:

Lights were dim and it is a real pain shooting in a very cramped place. Sorry for the poor angles. After their set, we went to Tapa King Eastwood for a late night grub. Had a very great time talking about boxing, working out and how will Rico Blanco look like while lifting weights. Too bad Sis Ab and Dax wasn't there with us. I'll see them again on Red's wedding day on October 16 because they'll gonna play and I'm sure it will be a fun fun night!
Till then! :)
Actually pareho kami ni Paul nagli-lead. :p
BalasHapusHaha! How did you knew about this blog? I never mentioned it to anyone yet except Kiko! :D
