Bohol - Day 1

Rabu, 22 September 2010

Last June 2009, the boss and I went to Bohol only by ourselves. We fell in love with the place and promised to come back with our friends and family thus the reason for this entry. The owner of Whites and Greens (where we stayed on our first trip) gave us a package of P5,000/pax inclusive of:
  •  4d/3n accommodation
  • full board meals (as long as you are in the resort)
  • van for Countryside Tour (as well as to and from the airport)
  • boat for island hopping
Not bad eh? I specifically chose September so I can celebrate my birthday surrounded by all my favorite people. Though not complete, we still had a blast.
The package is applicable if you are a group of 10 persons above. Their rooms can accommodate 2 persons which is ideal for couples but they also have a family room that can house 6 persons comfortably. The package is not posted on their website because Mang Ed (owner) only gives it to people who he says are "special" :). So if you want to avail, just message me and I will refer you to him. :)

We were a group of 13 persons: 7 ex-office mates, my mom and 2 siblings and the boss's mom. This is the first time that our moms and sibs are going out of town w/ us and that made it extra special. Our flight was at 8:50 in the morning via Zest Air and we all met at NAIA 1. Wasn't in the mood to take pictures because of the misunderstanding with the people at the baggage section who told us to have our liquids checked-in while the lady at Zest Air told us that it was okay to hand carry it. Anyway, our flight was okay and this is our first time to try the airline and rumors are not true that they serve free Zest - O. Here are some photos upon our arrival.

welcome!

We were warmly greeted by the driver as he helped us with our things. He said his instructions were to bring us to Hinagdanan Cave first and then to the resort to have lunch and rest for the entire day.

The Hinagdanan Cave is a cave on Panglao Island, in Bohol Province, in the Philippines. It is a naturally lighted cavern with a deep lagoon and many large stalactites and stalagmites. (source: Wikipedia) Entrance is P15 for adults and P10 for kids. I wasn't able to take a picture of the cave this year but I have a  pretty decent picture from our trip last year.

The guide said that you can swim in the water but I won't dare. Its totally dark in there. Who knows they've been peeing in the water when no one's around?! Haha! Just kidding. After the cave, we proceeded to the resort for lunch.

Lunch was served as soon as we arrived. There were shrimps, grilled fish and seaweed salad. Shrimps were juicy, the fish was fresh and the seaweed salad is a winner! The dressing has coconut milk too. My first time to try it.

After eating, we lounged by the nipa hut and then retired for the rest of the afternoon. We all fell asleep in our respective cottages since all of us woke up early in time for my call time of 6:30 AM. I know its way too early but there is one word in the English vocabulary that I always stress which is the word LATE. I am ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS early and I'm never late so please respect my time. Friends close to me already knows that I tend to get mad if you don't show up on time. Every second counts. It was nice that they all showed up on time except for Romena (naks special mention! <3 love you dear!).

When we woke up at around 5PM, we decided to go to Bohol Beach Club for a dip. Their day tour fee of P250 entitles you to use their pool, walk around their resort and a consumable snack which is most commonly defined as a sandwich. We walked our way to the resort which is just a few steps from our own. We passed by Dumaluan Beach Resort that is a favorite among foreigners and locals alike.

When we arrived, the foreigners already left the pool so we almost have it all to ourselves. My siblings and I had really had fun. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

On the last photo is Kc, one of my dearest gay friends while doing her "malandi jump". We got tired easily after all the jump shots so we decided to eat. We all had sandwiches because that's what you can only consume from their menu that won't exceed P200. They have many variants : ham and cheese, chicken, tuna and clubhouse. Each sandwich comes with fries and coleslaw that tastes like atsara or pickled papaya. (UGH!)

We weren't able to explore the entire resort since it was already dark. We just swam a little more and headed back to our resort. Dinner was served and we all went to sleep to prepare for the next day's activity which is the Country Side Tour.

Hasta luego!
