Weeks ago, we noticed a newly constructed entrance at the residence parking of the Eastwood Mall in Eastwood City. There were no signs about what the entrance was about but I already thought that its for the hotel or condo. Days later, we saw a tarpaulin saying that Eastwood Cafe is now open and the very good news is : they serve breakfast!
Breakfast for us is dinner since we work at night. And it will be best comfortable for us if we eat first before going home and because we are working here in Eastwood for quite a couple of years already, dining is a always a problem. (Yes I know!) We grew tired of all the food joints here as we already tried it all and not to mention they are quite expensive for us average employees. The tarpaulin mentioned that their meals start from P210 so we decided to give it a try a week later by celebrating our 32nd monthsary.
Eastwood Cafe is located at the ground floor of the newly opened Eastwood - Richmonde Hotel. The place is big, has one private room which is perfect for private meetings because it has two huge doors. The ambiance is relaxing, it is very well lit even if we were there at 7:30am. We were kinda shy at first because we thought that we weren't properly dressed. Clad in jeans and sneakers as always, we were greeted by the cheerful staff and ushered us to our seats. I wasn't able to take pictures of the place because there were 2 waiters watching us and it made me a bit uncomfortable. They handed us the breakfast menu and they serve pancakes and waffles for P210 that comes with a fruit platter, coffee or hot chocolate. Omelets are priced at P300-P410 which comes with a fruit platter, basket of bread, jam and coffee or hot chocolate. The boss ordered waffles and I went for the omelet. I forgot the exact name but the omelet has oysters. Interesting huh?!

After 15 minutes there were no signs of food. I kept myself busy inspecting the place while the boss is playing Plants vs. Zombies. Sorry for the low quality of the pictures, I just used my phone. :)
very cute salt and pepper shaker, creamer and sugar |
markings on the table - yes, I was surprised to see it |
One of the waitresses might have noticed that we were getting impatient and asked if she wants to serve us the fruit platter. We said yes because we were really starving.
Fruit Platter: watermelon, melon, grapes, honey and dragon fruit |
Fruits were fresh and juicy and sweet. We were almost finished eating when our main courses arrived.
Waffles with whipped butter and maple syrup |
Omelet w/ oysters and cilantro topped with pickled veggies and bacon on the side |
The waffles were bland for me. They were freshly made but lacks that homey flavor. The omelet on the other hand is good. It has this salty and seafood - like flavor because of the oysters but tastes just right because it was balanced by the cilantro. Bacon was crispy just the way I wanted it. The basket of bread wad composed of slices of baguette, ciabatta and raisin bread toasted to perfection. The only thing that didn't satisfied me is their hot chocolate.
hot chocolate |
The waitress said that their hot chocolate is not instant and it is slowly cooked. But it didn't tasted like your usual hot chocolate. It wasn't sweet but rather a little sour and tangy. I only took a sip and totally ditched it. The waitress though was kind enough to ask if I wanted something else to replace it but I declined, I just wanted to be firm that I totally hate it. Hahaha! I even asked her to take a sip but she just smiled.
We had the cafe all to ourselves and enjoyed our food albeit the weird encounter with the hot chocolate. We talked about our future months together and went home afterwards. I want to go back but I want to try their buffet and other ala carte meals. But breakfast? I'd rather go to Delifrance. :)
