Town Hall Meeting

Hola!

Last week, I attended our company's quarterly Town Hall Meeting and boy it was not boring at all! It was my first time to attend and almost 200 employees were present as well. First, it started with a Bingo game where gift certificates and Nokia cellphones were up for grabs. Unfortunately, I didn't win any! Haha! The meeting started at 5 in the morning and surely, a Bingo game was needed to wake everyone up.

The meeting is about the company updates, current status, organizational changes and recognition of some employees who made a difference for the last 2 months. Our company has 3 branches in the country, so I expected a lot of new things to hear and I was happy to know that all were doing well. The meeting went on an on and I was already getting hungry when I heard some gasps as the projector showed a slide about our year - end party. It is one of the most anticipated events of the year because of abundant food, good entertainment and fabulous prizes! In my 6-year stay here, I saw agents screaming for joy for winning trips to Hongkong, Thailand, Boracay, Palawan, entertainment and kitchen showcases, gadgets and the like. But still, I never won anything! Yes, I'm not lucky at all!

So after the meeting proper, there came the Q&A portion. Agents were free to speak up and ask questions directly to the CEO and the managers. One of the very odd question was: "Do you have any plans of implementing uniforms?" And you guessed it right. Everyone laughed. Our manager just answered that we are not a school and we don't need it. But at the back of my mind, I kind of  agreed with the person who asked the question. Wearing uniforms in this kind of job is a little off, maybe because they may mistake us for working in a factory. But it will save us from buying clothes to use everyday! We are all required to dress casually and I find it hard to think of what to wear as opposed to just waking up, wear the same company shirt and leave. Like nurses right? Same white top, skirt, stockings and shoes or scrubs! Like they can wear any kind of scrubs! Which I think is more comfortable too; you can check some cheap and affordable scrubs here: http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/

Anyway, the meeting ended at past 8 in the morning and they provided some snacks for everyone. I surely hope to be available in the next meeting to see what kind of crazy questions will come up. Haha!

Hasta luego!
