This starts the several blog entries about our Bohol vacation. It is already our 3rd time there but the place just makes us come back for more. We arrived at the airport fairly early and killed time over coffee, oranges, reading Tim sykes reviews and people watching. There were a lot of delayed flights that day but we were still lucky compared to others who have been waiting for more than 2 hours. It actually concerned me that we'll be late for our lunch date at Payag Restaurant in Bohol with Janet and Dolant who are meeting us there but thankfully, 15 minutes later than our original departure time, we left.
One of the restaurants to go to when visiting Tagbilaran, Bohol is Payag Restaurant. They are famous for their chicken inato (barbequed chicken marinated the Bohol-way) which is also a must - try when visiting Bacolod. We took a tricycle outside Tagbilaran airport and instructed the driver to go to Payag. Most of them are already familiar with the place so there's no need for further instructions.
We were welcomed with the rustic and homey interiors of the restaurant which has a cage with birds, a swing, lamp posts and a tree. Their dining areas are divided into two: the balcony which is suited for people who like to smoke and an air-conditioned area.
We ordered their Molo Soup and Chicken Inato with unlimited rice.
Molo Soup - P130 (good for 4 persons) |
Chicken Inato - P95 |
The soup was a little salty for us and we were not able to finish it all. The chicken was tender, smokey and flavorful but it still failed to amaze me because of the inato we tried in Bacolod. I was expecting a little for it to taste like that. But that's just me, I know that all restaurants as well as places have their own specialty. All in all it was a good meal, the service was quick, the staff were attentive and the ambiance was nice.
