My first on-air guesting (Jam 88.3 FM)

I've always had this habit of listening to music while working, surfing the net, reading, running, cooking, cleaning the house and most especially when commuting. Last week while doing reports at work I turned on my little MP3 player and tuned in to Jam 88.3 FM. I’ve been an avid listener of the station since NU107 signed off. They were playing some Japanese songs for their Bloody Type A program which showcases the best in Asian cutting – edge music as per the website’s description.

Cue commercial.

The DJ talked to a person on the phone asking “Why do you deserve to win one of Jam’s 88 gifts for Christmas?” I can’t remember what the guy answered but I heard him singing a part of a song where you should sing with the correct lyrics. So this guy won a bunch of gift certificates from Adidas. Out of curiosity, I checked the station’s website and saw the form to join. I answered:

 “I deserve to win because I haven’t incurred a single absence/late for the entire year this year.”

I clicked on the submit button but since most flash sites are not supported in our work computers, the form hanged and didn’t gave me a confirmation that my entry was successfully submitted.  So I just closed the site and forgot about it.

Fast forward to today. Yes today at around 22:30H. The phone rang and my boss was beside it since he often uses it for meetings and conferences. He said it was for me, checking out the number in the screen I had no idea who it was. So here’s our conversation:

Me: Hello?
DJ:  Hi, is this Gian?
Me: Yeah? Who’s this?
DJ:  Hi, you joined our promo last week. This is from Jam 88.3 FM.
Me: OHMYGAAWWDD!!! *mutes the phone and tells colleague that it was a phone call from a radio station*
Me: Hello? Hiiiii!!!!
DJ:  Are you still breathing?
Me: Yeaaaaah!!! You actually talked to my boss earlier haha!
DJ:  That’s cool!

So he told me that we will go on air in about 3 minutes and that I would have to sing a song and I needed to know the lyrics. So we opened Google and prepared for the song he will have me sing. But he gave me a clue. He said that I will be singing Rudolph the Red Nosed – Reindeer. Hahaha!

Anyway, just watch the video and please forgive me if I sound like a teenage kid who just experienced her first real French kiss. Hihi!
