After her Boracay trip, Janet - my friend from Canada who's here in the Philippines for a 3 month - long holiday proceeded to Bantayan Island where we agreed to meet. She's been on the island for already two weeks when we arrived thus knowing a lot of people in that small town. She stayed in Cou Cou Lodge which also has a bar and restaurant. The owners Dennis and Riezel Geairain were very kind enough to give her a discounted price for her room since she will stay for more than a week. We practically ate here all the time during our stay because of their good service and variety of food.
On the morning of our second day, we had breakfast here before going island hopping. The restaurant is centrally located in the town so it is very hard to miss. You can choose from their Continental, American, Filipino and Farmer breakfast sets. They also serve omelets, soups, pizzas, seafood, chicken and pork dishes. Their spacious restaurant has a pool table and they offer free WiFi. The washroom/comfort room just beside the dining area was spotless and very clean which is a plus to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Aside from the delectable variety of food they offer, Cou Cou has a wide array of wines and beers from Belgium where the owner is from. The white wine we had on our last night was light and sweet specially when served chilled. That morning, we ordered Spanish Omelet, Tocino with fried rice and egg and the boss had Danggit with fried rice and egg.
Spanish Omelet with butter and orange jam - P100 |
Tocino with fried rice and egg - P125 |
Danggit (dried fish) with fried rice and egg - P125 |
All of our orders came with coffee and tea. Food was great except for the fact that everything was too oily and to my disappointment, my tocino tasted like it came from a can of sardines. I don't know why and I didn't bothered to ask but it just tasted like sugar and salt with a hint of metal. I just finished my rice and egg and Janet shared half of her omelet.
Cou Cou completed all of its amenities after two years. They built a lodge with modern and very comfortable rooms. Each room is equipped with hot and cold showers, queen - sized bed and mattresses, TV and DVD players. You can opt to have an airconditioned room or a fan room and according to Janet, they replenish her towels everyday and make up her room.
