Our 4th month at Dolci Divino

Jumat, 06 Mei 2011

After being enthralled by the mighty Thor and almost falling from the edge of our seats because of the death - defying stunts of Fast Five, we found ourselves walking under the night's humid breeze to Ortigas Park for some dinner to cap the pre celebration of our 40th monthsary.

Since it was a weekday, the restaurant wasn't full and only a few tables were occupied. It's brightly lit interiors are framed with glass walls fronting the little park. There are also tables and chairs under big umbrellas outside so you can dine al-fresco and if you want a little view, you also have the option to dine at their second floor. The first floor is too small for me because it shares their bar and kitchen. They offer free WiFi which is a plus but an out - of - order restroom is a big disappointment. Also, it was very hot inside! I don't know if the air con was turned on at all.

I was told that they used to serve gelato here but their shelves are full of different kinds of cakes, sodas and beer. Their menu consists of paninis, gourmet dishes, pasta, salad and some appetizers best paired with beer. We ordered their Chef Salade with Raspberry Vinaigrette dressing, Pork Provencal which is porkchops with tomato sauce and the Boss had a fish dish with a cream sauce (sorry forgot the name). All dishes can be paired with your own choice of starch: mashed potatoes, mock risotto or rice.

The salad was just okay. It wasn't cold or chilled which would've been better but I like it that their portions are good enough for two.

Chef  Salad P120
Pork Provencal with mock risotto P185
Fish dish with mashed potatoes P195
My pork was tender and very flavorful. The thyme and rosemary sprinkled on it was not overpowered by the tomato sauce it came with. But the mock risotto was very dense and buttery. No hint of olive oil at all. I should've just paired it with mashed potatoes because they were very nice and moist. (Yes, I took a spoonfull out of the Boss' plate). His fish was just okay. It was pan - grilled and paired with a creamy sauce and some mixed greens. The servings may look small but because of the density and creaminess of the dishes, they'll fill you up in no time. :)

Hasta luego!

Overall dining experience : 3 out of 5 skulls
