Pansacola Beach Resort - Cagbalete Island Mauban, Quezon

Selasa, 24 Mei 2011

As we walked along the houses under the midday sun to Pensacola Beach Resort, I can only think of one thing: cold water. What we expected to be a leisurely walk (according to a blogger) turned out to be a total cardio work out. So if you decide to check - in at Pensacola Beach Resort, get a small boat that will take you right to their beach front for just P50 each. After what seemed like forever, we finally reached the resort. The coconut trees towered above us as we made our way inside and we were greeted with lush greens and even more trees that helped shelter our weary bodies.

The resort doesn't have a formal reception office/lobby/area. So after dumping our things at one of the dining tables, my friend Jepay approached the only people who we thought works for the resort. We talked to a lady who's currently cooking some lunch in their kitchen. We were told that our hut was ready and we can already settle in. We availed of the Tree House for P2000/night that can accomodate 6 persons.

They provided matresses, pillows and blankets for all of us to sleep in. Electricity in the resort runs from around 5pm to 7am the next day. So bring extension cords if you will charge your gadgets at night because you might run out of outlets. The resorts boasts of nipa huts and open cottages for their accomodations. Big nipa huts has their own restrooms while you can use their common restrooms if you stay in smaller ones. Water pressure is okay and you can also pump your own water from their deep wells. But we felt a little uncomfortable while bathing because of how exposed it feels when you are inside their shower rooms. It's made of cement but the upper part is concealed with branches of wood standing like a meter apart. Although nothing major happened, we just thought that someone who's harvesting coconuts outside might get a peek specially if you are tall like us. Here are some more pictures of the resort.

We availed of their food package which is P900 per person per day. It includes breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner. The food was overwhelming. Their servings are huge and you will really feel bloated after every meal. I will post the pictures of the food on my succeeding posts. Their beach has nice white sand. But if you will walk to the left part of the beach specially in the morning, the waters there are cleaner, no sea grass and the sand is much finer. I suggest you swim right at the front area where the cemetery is. It is a more private area although boats pass by from time to time. If you are looking for a more laid back vacation, this is the place to be. There are no banana boats, parasailing and other sports activities that you can do because the water gets way too shallow during low tide. So make sure to bring a good book and catch up on your reading or just be contented dipping in the waters.

Overall, the resort has great amenities, good food but they need to brush up on their customer service. For instance, once the electricity came up on our first night, we asked if we could have our electric fan but one of their staff answered "maybe later we're still too busy". How could you answer that way to a customer? I would've appreciated another reply like "please wait we'll bring it to you later". Also, throughout our entire stay, the owners didn't even approached us. I'm not saying that we wanted to be treated like royalty or we are VIP's but a simple hi or hello would do (like what other owners do at the resorts I went to).  They also don't answer text messages promptly. Lastly, you will hear constant shouting from the lady owner to her staff. Instructing them to do their tasks, asking them to do this and that. It just gets very annoying at the end of the day specially since our hut was very near their kitchen. Oh well, I guess that's how they make things work.
